The Märkische Jugendchor is a youth choir from Neuruppin, a German town near the capital Berlin. The choir of the Karl-Friedrich-Schinkel-Gymnasium is 58 years old and shows no signs of ageing! With 35 singers aged between 12 and 18, the choir is boldly looking to the future without losing sight of its long-standing tradition.

The Märkische Jugendchor primarily sings a cappella music from the Renaissance to popular music. It is also very open to regional projects. Highlights of 2024 were our participation in the performance of Bach’s St John Passion as a guest choir, the choir meeting with Voice’n’performance from Hanover and our choir trip to Certaldo, Neuruppin’s twin town in Italy.

The choir’s activities can be followed at www.maerkischerjugendchor.de or via @we.are.mjc.
